As an Interior Designer, you will require to prepare various different type of drawings. Drawings are important because what’s on the drawings represent an idea, a process, a concept, a potential solution to a problem or a solution to a problem etc. Each type of drawing also represents a purpose within the design process. Drawings can be prepared for clients, for contractors, for consultants such as Engineers, Architects or for other Designers, for the Government, for the community, for presentation and even for the Interior Designer him or herself.
Each type of drawings represents a certain stage of the design process. Some of the different type of drawings can include: concept drawings, freehand sketches, diagrammatic drawings, bubble diagrams, schematic design drawings, design development drawings, development permit drawings, shop drawings, renderings, perspective drawings, construction drawings and many others. Each type of drawing require different type of drawing style and drawing techniques.
Different types of Drawings are require for the different phases of a project. An Interior Designer must know how to prepare them inorder to execute the project efficiently and successfully.
Beginner interior design students must understand the purpose of each type of drawings and learn how to use them efficiently during the entire design process. It is therefore important to ensure your interior design education consist of training in the various type of drawings style and techniques.
